Resumo
GenesisDB is a production-grade event store database designed for event-driven applications, focusing on immutable, time-ordered event recording grouped by hierarchical subjects. This document outlines its technical architecture, operational characteristics, and capabilities, aiming to establish prior art while safeguarding proprietary details. Central to GenesisDB is the principle that state is derived from an append-only sequence of immutable events, ensuring full auditability and deterministic replay. Events are structured according to the CloudEvents specification, with a robust schema governance feature in the Enterprise Edition that validates incoming event payloads. The system employs a single, append-only event log and a write-ahead log to guarantee durability and facilitate crash recovery. Additionally, it supports a reference data mechanism for handling large payloads separately, ensuring compliance with data regulations. Indexing infrastructure enhances read performance without compromising the simplicity of the event log. An in-memory caching layer further optimizes access to user events. Overall, GenesisDB provides a comprehensive solution for managing event-driven architectures, balancing performance, integrity, and compliance.
